Super glue will stabilize it too. Dont forget the old standby, Urethane... several good coats and a bake at 200 will work nicely too.

I use it a lot, it's gorgeous wood. I don't treat any different than I do any other hardwood. Sand, polish and oil it. Use the parts of it where the black rod grain is the thickest, that's the densest...

The timber in the picture is actually coconut palm, all of the palm timbers are so alike I think they're nearly the same thing. The nickname XT John comes from the type of hang glider I used to fly....

Dunno if anyone else does it... I ran outta super glue once, had the urethane... My Late Father in law mentioned baking it, He used urethane based paint at Grummond and Mack.
